“A lot of the music I listen to isn’t performed in my native language and I don’t understand what’s being said,” Andrew Bird told Mexican news site Marvin. “Brazilian, Cuban and Mexican music that I love, for example. But it reaches me.”

Andrew Bird will perform at Mexico City’s Teatro de la Ciudad on October 27th and 28th, marking his first concerts in Mexico backed by an orchestra. The shows will revisit his 2005 album Andrew Bird & the Mysterious Production of Eggs, which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year.
Speaking about translating the record to an orchestral setting, Andrew Bird said he approaches the musicians as if they were a band, with particular attention paid to rhythm and groove.
“The idea is to bring the energy of rock and roll, even though I’m a violinist singing in front of an orchestra,” he explained. “I feel like I’m part of the orchestra, I feel like we’re a band.” Andrew Bird will be joined by The Love Academy Orchestra for both Mexico City performances.
