McCartney Snubs Larry David Over Grumpy Behavior

McCartney Snubs Larry David Over Grumpy Behavior

Paul McCartney and Larry David had a encounter at a concert earlier this year, where David refused to sing along to “Hey Jude”. During a guest appearance on Friday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, McCartney was asked about the Curb Your Enthusiasm not singing along to the song at a small club show in Los Angeles. Jimmy Kimmel brought up the topic, mentioning that he was struck by David’s behavior during the concert.

Jimmy Kimmel: “The last time I saw you was in March in Los Angeles. You did a very intimate show at the Fonda Theatre, 1,200 seats. It was a fantastic show, and I was struck by a number of things. And one of them was something actually we discussed on the show; I don’t know if you’re aware of this.

“So, Larry David was at the show. You know Larry, right?”

Paul McCartney: “I know Larry.”

Kimmel: “Larry actually complained to me, because when you sang ‘Hey Jude,’ you encouraged everybody to sing ‘Na, na, na, na.’ And Larry looked over at me, and I was singing along, whereas he was just sitting there like this, and refused to sing.”

McCartney’s Response

McCartney: “Yeah, I know. I know. I talked to him about it, afterwards. I said, ‘But how come, Larry?’ He said, ‘I didn’t want to do it.’ So, he didn’t do it.”

Kimmel: “Will he be invited to the next show?”

McCartney: “Never. That’s it.”

Larry David’s Explanation

When David appeared on Kimmel back in June, he gave a very Larry David answer for why he chose not to sing along.

Jimmy Kimmel’s Takeover of Brooklyn

McCartney’s October 2nd appearance was part of the final night of Jimmy Kimmel’s takeover of Brooklyn.

In conclusion, it seems that Larry David will no longer be receiving invitations to Paul McCartney’s concerts, due to his refusal to sing along to “Hey Jude” at a previous show. The encounter has sparked an interesting exchange between the two, with McCartney jokingly saying that David will never be invited to another show again.
