Dad Movie Debuts Plus Lady Whistledown Binges The Sopranos

The latest issue of Stream On is here, and it’s bringing a plethora of exciting new releases from Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Prime Video, Paramount+, Peacock, HBO Max, and more. This week’s picks include Pressure, a World War II movie starring Brendan Fraser as General Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Lanterns, a TV show created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre. Additionally, My Brilliant Career, a female-led period drama, and Arco, an animated feature nominated for a 2026 Academy Award, are also highlighted.

This Week’s Picks

Pressure is directed by Anthony Maras and stars Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser, Kerry Condon, Chris Messina, and Damian Lewis. The movie is streaming on Peacock. Pressure is a World War II movie about the lead-up to D-Day, with Brendan Fraser as General Dwight D. Eisenhower. The plot of the movie is basically “Andrew Scott, England’s best weather expert, has to predict the weather on the proposed date for the invasion of France.”

Lanterns is created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, and stars Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre. The show is streaming on HBO Max. Lanterns is an odd duck of a show, but it definitely has enough touches of the 2019 limited series Watchmen to keep things interesting. Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre are dream casting as Hal Jordan and John Stewart, current and future wearers of an alien ring that can do all kinds of cool stuff.

Young and eligible Sybylla (Philippa Northeast) is an untamed spirit who longs only to write and read and be free; unfortunately, she’s being pressured to get married for the sake of her family.

Arco is directed by Ugo Bienvenu and stars Swann Arlaud, Alma Jodorowsky, <strong Margot Ringard Oldra, Oscar Tresanini, Vincent Macaigne, Louis Garrel, William Lebghil, and Oxmo Puccino. The movie is streaming on Hulu. Arco is pretty unflinching in its depiction of the years 2075 and 2932 as eras dramatically affected by climate change. It’s also a beautifully rendered young adult adventure featuring time travel, magic rainbows, robot nannies, and some genuine hope for the future.

One Last One Before Bed
