An all-star band of Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, blink-182’s Travis Barker, and onetime Ramones bassist CJ Ramone played a set of Ramones classics at a 50th anniversary celebration at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.
The supergroup, performing under the name the Cretin Family, played 19 songs, with guest appearances by The Linda Lindas, Fred Armisen, and Billy Idol.
The Linda Lindas guested on “California Sun” and “I Wanna Be Sedated,” while Billy Idol joined the band for the final three songs of the night: “Beat on the Brat,” “Ready Steady Go” (by Idol’s old band Generation X), and the set-closer “Blitzkrieg Bop” (with The Linda Lindas, as well).
The Celebration
The evening, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Ramones’ self-titled debut album, was hosted by John Travolta. The actor also presented a double screening of the movies Carrie and Propeller One-Way Night Coach.
