Twenty One Pilots are preparing to make their Rock in Rio debut, and drummer Josh Dun is expecting big things from the Brazilian crowd. “I think Brazilian music fans are some of the most passionate in the world — maybe even the most passionate — when it comes to music and live performances,” Dun told Billboard Brasil. “Every time we’ve visited, the shows have been incredible. I get to Brazil and realize that it’s even better than I imagined.”
Upcoming Performance
Twenty One Pilots will return to Brazil for the sixth time to headline Rock in Rio’s World Stage on September 13th. Dun said playing the festival had been a longtime goal for the duo, calling the upcoming performance “a fantastic experience.”
Past Experience
Dun recalled experiencing the enthusiasm of the Brazilian crowd firsthand at Lollapalooza Brazil in 2023, when Twenty One Pilots stepped in at the last minute after Blink-182 canceled their appearance. “I remember thinking, ‘People are going to be upset because the band they wanted to see can’t be here, and we’re the replacement,’” he said. “But it was unbelievable. It was truly an incredible and memorable experience.”
Recent Milestones
The appearance follows another major Latin American milestone for Twenty One Pilots. Earlier this year, the duo released the concert film More Than We Ever Imagined, documenting their February 2025 performance for 65,000 fans in Mexico City. A corresponding live album was released in August and has since charted in the United States and United Kingdom.
