Wild Pink Breaks Down New Album Still Coming Down Track by Track

From parenthood and bank robbers to Kennedy assassination lore and the possibility of no afterlife, John Ross reveals the stories behind Wild Pink’s new album Still Coming Down, their sixth studio effort and follow-up to one of 2024 best records, Dulling the Horns. Out via Fire Talk Records, the nine-track effort continues down the heavier rock path of its predecessor while filtering modern American life through frontman John Ross’ characteristically vivid and curious songwriting.

Album Inspiration

Recorded in just one week at Asheville’s Drop of Sun Studios with producer Alex Farrar (Wednesday, Samia, Bnny), Still Coming Down pulls inspiration from seemingly everywhere. Across its nine songs, Ross finds material in parenthood, the rising cost of everyday life, bank robbers, childhood memories, old movies, conspiracy theories, and a Target in Kingston, New York.

Track Previews

Wild Pink first previewed the album in May with “Round of Applause at the End of the World,” a knotty rocker inspired by the podcast Ghost Stories for the End of the World and its episodes on the Kennedy assassination. Ross has since shared the “Box Store” and “500 Is the New 250.”
