Longtime Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain turned down an invitation to play golf with Donald Trump, he revealed in a new interview with The Telegraph.
Nicko McBrain’s Memoir and Recent Statements
McBrain, who is promoting his upcoming memoir, Hello Boys and Girls! (pre-order here), says he was invited to play golf with Trump by an associate of the president, but quickly declined the offer.
The drummer recalled, “A friend of mine who’s a massive Republican said, ‘Oh, do you want to come and play golf with us? With the president.’ And I said, ‘You fucking what?’… and I just said, ‘No. No, mate.’”
He continued, “I’m not politically inclined, although I must be because I have my thoughts about him. I’m not amused by the narcissism, and all this kerfuffle about the Epstein files and whatnot, and especially the debauched war that he’s put on Iran. And this Pete Hegseth business — oh, he’s going to be put in prison. My last word on Trump and his bunch of cronies is, they should be put in jail.”
Iron Maiden’s Recent Activities
McBrain retired from Iron Maiden in late 2024 after 42 years in the band. His autobiography, which arrives November 10th, documents his rise from growing up in working class North London to being the drummer of one of the 100 Best Bands of All Time.
Meanwhile, Iron Maiden recently announced a Spring 2027 North American tour featuring support from Bullet for My Valentine and The Raven Age. Get tickets here.
In conclusion, Nicko McBrain‘s decision to decline the invitation to play golf with Donald Trump reflects his strong opinions on the president’s actions and policies. As Iron Maiden prepares for their upcoming tour, fans can expect to see a new lineup, but the same level of energy and performance that the band is known for. With Nicko McBrain‘s memoir on the way, fans will also get a glimpse into the drummer’s life and career, including his time with Iron Maiden.
