Folks, I’m sipping my coffee and reading about President Trump’s latest excuses for the GOP’s impending midterm losses, and I’ve got to say, it’s a real doozy. According to Trump, the problem isn’t the results, it’s the messaging. Yeah, because that’s always the problem, right? It’s not that the results are bad, it’s just that nobody knows about the good results. I mean, come on, who needs actual accomplishments when you can just spin a good yarn?
Trump has been repeating this line for a few days now, saying that the GOP is doing a great job of running the country, but a terrible job of promoting it. He even said, “We’re doing an extremely poor job of promotion and an extremely great job of running the country.” I’m not sure what’s more astonishing, the fact that he thinks this is a viable excuse or the fact that he’s actually trying to sell it to people.
Now, I’m not going to argue that messaging isn’t important in politics. It’s crucial. But Trump’s problem isn’t just that his messaging is bad; it’s that his results are bad too. And let’s be real, folks, when you’re talking about the economy, people don’t care about spin; they care about the fact that gas prices are over $4 a gallon and inflation is still a major concern.
It’s not like Trump is the first politician to blame messaging for his problems. Kamala Harris and Barack Obama have both done it before. But the thing is, Trump’s messaging problems are a symptom of a larger issue: his policies just aren’t working. And instead of fixing the policies, he’s trying to fix the messaging. It’s like putting lipstick on a pig, folks.
Trump’s original sin on the economy is that he promised to fix it, but he hasn’t. He promised to bring down gas prices, but they’re still high. He promised to cut energy prices in half, but they’ve continued to climb. And he’s still trying to blame Biden for all of it. I mean, come on, Trump has been in office for 20 months; at some point, you’ve got to take ownership of your own policies.
And let’s not forget, Trump’s messaging is bad in three distinct ways. First, he over-promised and under-delivered. Second, he’s neglected and dismissed the issue of inflation. And third, he’s fixated on blaming Biden, which is just not going to fly with voters. I mean, Americans aren’t stupid; they know who’s in charge, and they know who’s responsible for the economy.
In conclusion, Trump’s excuses for the GOP’s midterm losses are just that: excuses. The problem isn’t the messaging; it’s the results. And until Trump starts delivering on his promises, he’s going to keep struggling with voters. As I always say, you can’t make this stuff up, folks. But hey, at least it’s entertaining to watch. And who knows, maybe someday Trump will figure out that it’s not about the messaging; it’s about the actual results. But until then, I’ll just keep sipping my coffee and enjoying the show 🤣.
