GWAR have announced a new split album with John Brennan and the Bigfeet, titled GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein. Ahead of the album’s November 13th release, GWAR have unveiled a video for the song “Splatter Fu,” written specifically for the band by John Brennan.
Album Details
The album celebrates the 40th anniversaries of both GWAR and the horror movie host Joe Bob Briggs’ historic career, debuting with Joe Bob’s Drive-In Theater in 1986 for The Movie Channel and, more recently, The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs for Shudder.
GWAR front-thing Blothar the Berserker stated, “Lordy Lordy, look who’s 40! GWAR and Joe Bob Briggs. A match made in hell! I love horror movies, trash, and funny spooky stuff. GWAR wouldn’t exist without it. I was just a calf when creepy Joe Bob reached up my poodle skirt at the Last Drive-in. He promised he’d make me a star… Now we’ve made a record together!”
Joe Bob Briggs added, “To create the real spirit of Halloween, I called up my buddies – the intergalactic warriors who live in Antarctica – and I asked them to bring some fear, some filth, and some fun. Of course you know whom I’m talkin’ about… the Scumdogs of the Universe… GWAR!”
Side A of the album is GWAR’s live performance for The Last Drive-In’s 2025 Halloween special, and Side B features John Brennan and the Bigfeet, The Last Drive-In’s house band, performing songs written for the show’s final two seasons.
Tracklist and Tour
The tracklist for GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein includes six tracks performed by GWAR and ten tracks performed by John Brennan and the Bigfeet. Meanwhile, GWAR are set to kick off a fall North American tour with support from Midnight, Mac Sabbath, X-COPS, and Atomic Rule.
Pre-orders for GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein are available now. The album is a unique collaboration between GWAR and John Brennan and the Bigfeet, and is a must-have for fans of both the band and The Last Drive-In. With its release on November 13th, fans can expect a thrilling combination of horror and heavy metal that is sure to get them in the mood for Halloween.
