Slipknot Cuts Ties with Longtime Member Sid Wilson

Two weeks after TMZ reported that Slipknot fired Sid Wilson, the band has confirmed that the turntablist is no longer in the band. A message posted to the band’s social pages on Friday evening stated, “Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Band Lineup Changes

Sid Wilson joined the masked metal act in 1998, and had been a member ever since. He is the latest classic member to be let go from the band, following percussionist Chris Fehn in 2019 and sampler-keyboardist Craig Jones in 2023.

Prior to those personnel changes, Slipknot let go of founding drummer Joey Jordison in 2013 (he later passed away in 2021). And tragically, founding bassist Paul Gray died in 2010 while he was still an active member of the band.

Personal Life

In 2022, Sid Wilson welcomed a baby boy with Kelly Osbourne, and then proposed to her backstage last summer in front of Ozzy Osbourne and family at the metal icon’s final show in Birmingham, England at the “Back to the Beginning” concert. However, TMZ has reported that Wilson and Kelly Osbourne have since split up.

A screen capture of Slipknot’s announcement, which has already been removed from their social pages, can be seen below. It was also shared on the official Knotfest Instagram, where it still remains up as of this posting.

In conclusion, the departure of Sid Wilson from Slipknot marks another significant change in the band’s lineup. As the band continues to move forward, fans will be eagerly awaiting their next move. With a history of intense and unpredictable music, Slipknot is sure to continue making waves in the metal scene, even as they navigate these personnel changes.
