KATSEYE have recruited Brazilian DJ and producer Pedro Sampaio for the official remix of their track “HOOTIE FRUTTI.” The new version leans further into the Brazilian funk elements already present in the original and also features MC GW and Clementaum. It arrives alongside a new dance video featuring Sampaio’s dance crew.
The DJ previewed the remix during his Rock in Rio performance in September. According to his representatives, the release also makes him the first Brazilian artist to officially collaborate with KATSEYE.
“This remix represents so much of what I’ve been working toward in my career: taking Brazilian funk to more and more places and creating connections with artists from different scenes around the world,” Pedro Sampaio said in a statement. “It was really special to bring my vision to ‘HOOTIE FRUTTI’ and add even more elements of Brazilian funk to the track.”
KATSEYE and Pedro Sampaio Collaboration
“HOOTIE FRUTTI” originally appeared on KATSEYE’s third EP, WILD, released in August. The song already incorporated Brazilian funk influences and Portuguese-language vocals. The group recently wrapped the European leg of their “The WildWorld Tour” and will kick off a North American run on October 13th in Miami.
The remix continues a busy stretch for Pedro Sampaio, who recently teamed up with Ricky Martin for the new single “pikito pikito.” The pair debuted the collaboration live during their halftime performance at the NFL’s first-ever regular-season game in Rio de Janeiro, held at Maracanã Stadium on September 27th.
