Blondie are returning with High Noon, their first album of new material in nine years. The band’s 12th studio album arrives February 26th, 2027 via BMG, and serves as the final recording of late co-founding drummer Clem Burke.
The album’s first single, “Spectral Eyes,” is out now. Written by Johnny Marr, who also contributes guitar, the track opens High Noon with the bright snap of classic Blondie — clean guitar lines, a buoyant rhythm, and a chorus that lands fast. There’s a little more lightness to it than some of their early material, but the hooky, slightly off-center pop instinct is immediately familiar. Marr is one of several collaborators appearing across the record, alongside Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock, Beirut’s Zach Condon, and Lucius’ Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig.
Album Details
“This album is classic Blondie — an amalgamation of all our different influences and eras into something new,” Debbie Harry said in a statement. “This music feels grounded in the present, shaped by who we are and how we’re living now.”
Recording began in New York City in 2022 with producer John Congleton, who previously worked with Blondie on 2017’s Pollinator. David Wrench later joined for additional production and mixing. The sessions would ultimately become Burke’s final recordings with Blondie, though the band had no way of knowing that when work began.
Collaborations and Influences
Other songs pull directly from the extended Blondie universe. Chris Stein wrote “Heartbreak Kid” with Johnny Thunders in mind, while Matlock penned “Sleepwalking.” “Little Metal Drummer,” meanwhile, revisits a song originally recorded by founding Blondie keyboardist Jimmy Destri for his 1981 solo album Heart on a Wall, whose original version also featured Harry and Burke.
“It’s been a long, strange ride, and somehow here we are with another Blondie album,” Stein said. “I’m not sure what the fuck I’m supposed to say at this point, except that we’re incredibly grateful for all your support over the years.”
