She Wants Revenge have announced The Loved, their first album in over 15 years, due out February 12th. Alongside news of the LP, the band has unveiled its lead single, “Black Wax/Our Love.”
The band’s dark post-punk sound returns on “Black Wax/Our Love,” featuring a distorted bassline and an almost krautrock groove acting as a backbone to the bleak love song.
She Wants Revenge’s Adam Bravin said of the new track, “We’ve always been fascinated by the contradictions in love: How something can be beautiful and destructive at the same time, and how you can know something isn’t good for you and still find yourself drawn to it. There’s a certain darkness in ‘Black Wax,’ but there’s also an energy and a sense of defiance that we love. It feels like a natural evolution of what SWR has always been about, without trying to recreate something we’ve already done.”
Music Video and Tour
Bravin also directed the music video, adding, “I wanted the video to feel less like a literal interpretation of the song and more like a fragment of a film you walked into halfway through. Something beautiful but unsettling, where the imagery carries as much emotional weight as the music. I’ve always loved the idea of leaving things unresolved, allowing people to bring their own experiences to what they’re seeing.”
She Wants Revenge are currently on tour through North America until November. They will be touring the UK and Europe beginning January 29th through till February 14th. Get tickets here.
