Folks, I almost spilled my coffee reading this one. A new report from the Census Bureau claims that tens of thousands of noncitizens voted in the 2020 presidential election. Now, I’m not one to cry foul, but this report has raised more than a few eyebrows. The report alleges that over 24,000 noncitizens voted, which, if true, would be a big deal. But, as it often does, the devil is in the details.
The report was posted on the Census Bureau’s website without any named authors or contributors, which is unusual, to say the least. And, when you dig into the numbers, it’s hard to see how this report is going to change the outcome of the election. I mean, we’re talking about 24,000 votes out of over 160 million cast. That’s less than 0.02% of the total votes. And, when you look at the states that were closely contested, the numbers just don’t add up to a whole lot. In Arizona, for example, there were allegedly 1,100 noncitizen votes, but Biden won the state by over 10,000 votes.
Now, I know some folks might be thinking, “But what about all those noncitizens voting?” And, to that, I say, let’s take a step back. Even if we assume that every single one of those 24,000 votes was cast by a noncitizen, it’s still a drop in the bucket. And, as the experts are pointing out, the report’s methodology is questionable, at best. The Census Bureau compared a commercial voter database with federal records, but the data is suspect. I mean, voter files often contain outdated or incorrect information, and that’s not even getting into the potential for false positives.
The administration has been pushing hard to find evidence of widespread voter fraud, and this report is just the latest salvo in that effort. But, it’s hard to see how this report is going to stand up to scrutiny. The experts are already questioning the report’s findings, and it’s likely that this will all end up in court.
In the end, it’s just another example of how our elections have become a partisan playground. The report’s findings are being touted as “proof” of voter fraud, but they’re really just a footnote in a much larger story. And, as we all know, the real story is about the ongoing struggle to ensure the integrity of our electoral system.
So, what’s the takeaway from all this? Well, it’s simple: don’t believe the hype. This report is just another example of how our politics have become a game of smoke and mirrors. And, at the end of the day, it’s up to us to cut through the noise and get to the truth. As the saying goes, “you can’t make this stuff up,” but it seems like some folks are trying their best to do just that. With a report like this, it’s no wonder I need an extra cup of coffee to keep up with all the drama. 🙄
