William Shatner Brings Metal To Riot Fest Warm Up Show

William Shatner will play his first-ever show with his metal backing band The Muckers on September 19th at Park West in Chicago, the night before he performs his previously announced set at Riot Fest in the same city. The legendary 95-year-old Star Trek actor’s concert at Park West is one of several Riot Fest side shows taking place in Chicago, including gigs by Chat Pile, Thrice, Show Me The Body, Black Flag, Alkaline Trio, and others at various venues throughout the city.

Shatner, who recently beat Stage 4 melanoma, will be performing songs from his forthcoming debut metal album, which features a who’s who of guest artists. Among the songs announced for the LP are covers of Judas Priest classics “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’” (featuring Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford) and “Living After Midnight” (featuring drummer Mikkey Dee of Motörhead and Scorpions).

Upcoming Performances

For the Park West gig and Riot Fest, Shatner’s backing band will consist of guitarist and musical director Marcus Nand (Mike Tramp, Candice Night), bassist Phil Soussan (Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol), guitarist Britt Lightning (Vixen, Cactus), and drummer Fred Aching (Kings of Thrash, Dead Groove, Fraxures).

Ahead of his September 20th gig at Riot Fest, Shatner unveiled a very demanding rider, including eight pallets of Faygo, a intro video created by GWAR, and adoptable puppies, among other outlandish requests.
