One of the jurors, Roni Carlson, said that they weren’t trying to figure out if Clancy murdered the children – she did, and she’s admitting it. On the other hand, you’ve got a woman who was clearly suffering from some kind of mental illness, and maybe she shouldn’t be held fully responsible for her actions. It’s a tough call, and I can see why the jurors were struggling with it.
The audio of the 911 call made by Clancy’s husband Patrick is apparently just devastating. The jurors said it was the most horrific thing they’d ever heard, and some of them even put on headphones so they wouldn’t have to listen to it again. It’s just a really sad and disturbing case all around.
In the end, the mistrial means that Clancy’s fate is still up in the air. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next in this case.
