Metallica Drops Massive 222 Track ReLoad Box Set

Metallica have released a super deluxe box set of their 1997 album ReLoad, and all 222 tracks are available to stream right now. The ReLoad reissue is the latest Metallica album to get the super deluxe treatment. In addition to a remastered version of the original album, the box set includes previously unreleased demos, rough mixes, live performances, television appearances, and much more.

The physical edition of the super deluxe box set spans 15 CDs and 4 DVDs and nearly 29 hours, as well as a lyric folder, a 11×17 “Gimme Fuel” poster, a “Fixxxer” Pushead print, three tour laminates, Rorschach test cards, 10 guitar and bass picks, a “Fully Loaded” sticker, and a 128-page book. It also includes the full album on 180-gram double vinyl, “The Memory Remains” 7″, and Live at Ministry of Sound ’97 (a 140-gram triple vinyl live album).

Heavy Consequence recently caught up with former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, who had the honor of doing the official unboxing of the ReLoad box set. He told us, “I hadn’t listened to that record for a long time… I think it’s 27 or how many ever years that I had heard it in its entirety… I just put that thing on, and it transported me.” He added, “I picture where we were when we were doing it, picture recording the thing, picturing playing it for the people…. My point is, I was able to get that far away from it by doing all the other things that I do, and then finding its reward when I go back and appreciate it in that way.”

The entire 222-track super deluxe ReLoad box set is available to stream via Apple Music or Spotify, and the physical edition can be ordered via Amazon or the Metallica online store. Metallica are set to wrap up their current UK/European outing with a two-night stand July 3rd and 5th in London. After taking the summer off, they’ll launch their 24-date “Life Burns Faster” residency at Las Vegas’ Sphere, running from October 1st, 2026, through March 13th, 2027. Tickets for the residency are available now.

In conclusion, the release of the super deluxe box set of Metallica‘s ReLoad is a must-have for fans of the band. With its extensive collection of previously unreleased material and comprehensive packaging, it’s a treasure trove of Metallica history. As Jason Newsted noted, revisiting the album has been a rewarding experience, and fans can expect to feel the same way when they dive into this massive box set. With Metallica‘s upcoming “Life Burns Faster” residency on the horizon, this release is the perfect way to get ready for the band’s next live outing.
