Folks, I almost spilled my coffee reading this one. A graduate student at the University of Wyoming was allegedly poisoned by his colleague, Aili Wang, with a neurotoxin called acrylamide. The victim, who remains unnamed, started experiencing numbness and tingling in his fingers and weakness in his legs back in August. At first, he thought it was just a weird side effect of something, but as the symptoms got worse, he started to suspect that something was off. And boy, was he right.
The victim had mentioned to his professors that the hot water he drank in his office tasted funny, but no one thought much of it until he found a white substance near his coffee pot and water bottle. That’s when things started to get really weird. His colleagues helped him test the powder, and it turned out to be acrylamide, a neurotoxin that can cause all sorts of nasty symptoms, including numbness, tingling, and cognitive issues.
Now, I’m no detective, but it seems like the police did a pretty good job of figuring out what was going on. They installed cameras in the office and caught Wang messing with the victim’s coffee maker and desk. They also found out that she had bought acrylamide on eBay and had tried to delete the order history. Bless their hearts, it seems like she wasn’t too careful about covering her tracks.
The police affidavit is pretty damning, and it seems like Wang is in a whole lot of trouble. She’s facing a felony charge of aggravated assault and battery, and her bond has been set at $1.5 million. I guess that’s what happens when you try to poison your colleague and then try to flee the country.
The university is still trying to process everything that happened, and the victim is still dealing with the aftermath of the poisoning. It’s just a crazy story, folks, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. I mean, who tries to poison their colleague over a disagreement? It’s just wild.
The whole thing is just a big mess, and I’m not sure what’s going to happen next. But one thing’s for sure – I’ll be keeping a close eye on my coffee maker from now on. You can’t make this stuff up, folks. The drama that goes on in university labs is just something else. Anyway, that’s the story of the poisoning at the University of Wyoming. Stay safe out there, and don’t drink anything that tastes funny.
