Family Shooting Survival Streak Continues Uninterrupted For Generations Apparently

Family Shooting Survival Streak Continues Uninterrupted For Generations Apparently

So, I’m sitting here with my coffee, reading about this poor mom, Michelle, who’s been through not one, but two school shootings. I mean, what are the chances, right? She survived a shooting at her high school in 2001, and now her kids are dealing with the same trauma after a shooting at their school in Bend, Oregon. Folks, this is just heartbreaking. Michelle’s fifth grader calls her during the shooting, and she immediately knows something is seriously wrong. She’s been through this before, so she recognizes the tone in her son’s voice. She compares it to the sound of her principal’s voice during the lockdown at her own high school, which is just chilling.

As I’m reading this, I’m thinking about how Michelle’s past experience is affecting her reaction to this new tragedy. She knows exactly what her kids are going through, and that’s just devastating. She’s trying to stay calm and get to her kids, but it’s clear that the memories of her own trauma are flooding back. When she finally gets to the school, she’s met with a scene of chaos and panic, with police cars and firetrucks everywhere. It’s like déjà vu for her, and I can only imagine how terrifying that must be.

The article goes on to describe how Michelle and her family are dealing with the aftermath of the shooting. They’re taking small steps towards healing, but it’s clear that this is going to be a long and difficult process. Michelle’s kids are struggling to cope with what they’ve seen, and she’s trying to reassure them that they’ll be okay. It’s just so sad to think about how many families are going through this same ordeal, and how it’s becoming all too common in our country.

One thing that really stood out to me was when Michelle’s 11-year-old son asks if he can be homeschooled because he never wants to go back to that school again. I mean, can you blame him? It’s just so tragic that kids are having to deal with this kind of fear and anxiety. And Michelle’s response, “I went through this. I’m okay. You’ll be okay,” just broke my heart. It’s like she’s trying to reassure her kids that they’ll get through this, but it’s clear that she’s still struggling with her own trauma.

As I finish reading this article, I’m just left with a sense of sadness and frustration. How many times do we have to go through this before something changes? It’s just so exhausting to think about how many families are affected by gun violence, and how it’s becoming a normal part of our lives. I guess all we can do is hope that someday, things will get better, and our kids will be able to go to school without fear of being shot. Until then, we’ll just have to keep supporting each other and trying to make sense of this senseless violence. And on a lighter note, I guess Olive Garden is going to be okay with the unpaid bill – priorities, people!
