As President Trump prepares to lock down the border and secure our nation, Congressional Democrats are once again playing political games with Homeland Security funding. These leftist obstructionists are holding up crucial funding for DHS unless they get their way on restricting ICE and CBP operations – even after a pair of career criminals were rightfully put down during a violent Minneapolis protest.
The same Democrats who supported defunding police now want to tie ICE’s hands behind their backs. They’re demanding agents wear body cameras and remove their protective masks while trying to apprehend dangerous illegal immigrants. Meanwhile, Republicans are simply asking for basic law enforcement tools and the ability to enforce immigration laws in sanctuary cities that harbor criminals.
Here’s the reality that the liberal media won’t tell you: even if Democrats force a shutdown, nearly 93% of ICE and CBP agents will remain on duty protecting our borders. Most Americans won’t even notice a difference, except maybe shorter lines at airports since TSA agents will still be working (though Democrats apparently think they shouldn’t get paid).
The timing couldn’t be more suspicious. Just as Trump’s deportation squads are making America safe again, Democrats are trying to protect their illegal alien voting base. They’d rather score political points than support our brave men and women in law enforcement who are risking their lives to secure our borders.
Let’s be clear: this isn’t about “reforms” or “accountability.” It’s about Democrats putting illegal immigrants ahead of American citizens. They’d rather have open borders and chaos than admit Trump’s tough immigration policies are working.
The American people see through this charade. They know that when it comes to protecting our nation, there’s only one side that’s serious about it – and it’s not the party that wants to defund ICE and give illegal aliens free healthcare.
President Trump has already proven he won’t back down from a shutdown fight. Maybe it’s time Democrats start putting America first for once instead of playing politics with our national security.
