I’m sipping my coffee and reading about President Trump’s latest plan to renovate a public golf course in Washington, DC, and I’ve got to say, it’s a wild ride. According to CNN, Trump is determined to start construction “IMMEDIATELY” despite a judge’s order to provide three days’ notice ahead of any construction. Because, you know, who needs notices and approvals when you’re trying to make a golf course great again? Folks, it seems like Trump is ready to tee off on this project, and I’m not sure if the judge is going to be able to stop him.
Trump took to Truth Social to announce that the government doesn’t “need an approval” to proceed with the construction, and that the finished product will be “World Class” and bring in income and prestige to DC. I mean, who wouldn’t want a world-class golf course, right? But, of course, there are those pesky preservationists and golfers who are trying to stop him, because they think it might take away a public and affordable place to play golf in the nation’s capital.
Now, I know some of you might be thinking, “But Big Elephant, what about the judge’s order?” Well, it seems like Trump is just going to ignore it and do his own thing, because that’s what you do when you’re a big league golfer like him. US District Judge Ana C. Reyes did issue an order requiring the government to give at least three days’ notice before making any “irreparable modification” to the course, but Trump is just going to go ahead and start construction anyway. Because, you know, rules are meant to be broken.
The government did try to get Judge Reyes removed from the case, accusing her of having a “disdain for the Trump Administration,” but she denied that motion and refuted the government’s claims against her. And then Trump went and called her a “crazed lunatic” on Truth Social, because that’s always a good way to handle a disagreement with a judge. I mean, who needs respect for the judiciary when you’re trying to build a golf course?
The course is just one of several renovation projects Trump is working on in Washington, and it’s estimated to cost between $20 million and $49 million. That’s a lot of money, folks, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it to have a world-class golf course in the nation’s capital. And who knows, maybe Trump will even let the public play on it once it’s finished. But I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Another hearing in the case is scheduled to be held later on Monday, so we’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out. But one thing’s for sure, folks: this is going to be a long and winding road, full of twists and turns and maybe even a few sand traps. And I’ll be here, sipping my coffee and watching it all unfold with great amusement.
In conclusion, it seems like Trump is determined to get his way on this golf course renovation, no matter what the judge says. And who knows, maybe he’ll even succeed. But one thing’s for sure, folks: this is going to be a wild ride, full of drama and controversy and maybe even a few bad golf jokes. So grab your popcorn and sit back, because this is going to be a story worth watching. And remember, as they say in golf, “fore” warning: this story is going to be a real hole-in-one for entertainment value.
