Folks, I’m sipping my coffee and reading about President Trump’s latest endeavors, and I have to say, it’s a wild ride. According to a recent interview, Trump is building monuments to himself in Washington, DC, and he’s not shy about it. When asked about the monuments, including a “triumphal arch,” Trump agreed that he’s building them for himself, saying “nobody will do it once I’m gone.” I mean, you can’t make this stuff up, right? The president is basically saying he’s the only one who can get these projects done, and once he’s gone, nobody will bother to continue his legacy.
I’m trying to wrap my head around this, but it seems like Trump is really focused on leaving his mark on the city. He’s been working on a White House ballroom and other projects, despite some congressional Republicans and Trump advisers thinking it might harm the GOP’s midterm election chances. But Trump is convinced that “the people should be thankful” for the ballroom, and he’s proud of the work he’s doing. I guess that’s one way to look at it.
The president has argued that the ballroom is necessary for national security, with plans for a drone port on the roof and an underground bunker, as well as bulletproof windows. And, of course, there’s the 250-foot arch near Arlington National Cemetery, which is set to break ground in the next two weeks. It’s all about legacy, folks. Trump wants to leave a lasting impact, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen.
Somewhere in Atlanta, a producer thought this sounded terrifying, and now we’re reading about it on CNN. But let’s be real, it’s not like Trump is trying to hide his intentions. He’s been pretty open about wanting to build these monuments and leave his mark on the city. And, as a source close to him told CNN, “the one thing they can’t tear down will be the East Wing. That is his lasting impact. That’s why he cares so deeply: legacy sh*t.” I guess that’s one way to put it.
As I finish my coffee, I have to wonder what’s next for Trump’s architectural blitz. Will he succeed in leaving his mark on the city, or will his successors try to undo his work? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure – it’s been an entertaining ride so far. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll be visiting the Trump Arch and laughing about the time he tried to build a monument to himself. 🙄 In the end, it’s all about legacy, and Trump is determined to make his mark, no matter what anyone else thinks.
