Shatner Rocks Out to Ozzy and Metallica Classics Live

Shatner Rocks Out to Ozzy and Metallica Classics Live

William Shatner played his first metal show ever Saturday evening, September 19th, at Park West in Chicago, joined by his backing band The F**kers. The 95-year-old Star Trek star performed the club show ahead of his set at Riot Fest today. He covered Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train,” Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades,” and Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” with his vocal delivery sounding more like a dramatic reading of the lyrics, as his backing band ripped through the instrumentals of the classic songs.

He also performed three original compositions called “do not go gentle into that good night,” “will we care when the sky turns black,” and “damn old age,” also giving a spoken-word delivery with The F**kers backing him up.

Upcoming Album and Performances

Shatner is working on his debut metal album, titled What the F Is Heavy Metal?, for Cleopatra Records. It will feature such guests as Queen’s Brian May, Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, and former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo.

Fans can catch Shatner and The F**kers performing at Chicago’s Riot Fest at 5:25 p.m. local time today.
