Oh boy, are you guys ready for some potentially amazing news? 🤯 NEVERMORE is back, and I’m not sure if I should be excited or just confused. I mean, it’s been a while since we’ve heard from these guys, and I’m not sure what to expect. But hey, let’s dive in and see what’s going on. Apparently, guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams have been working on getting the band back together, and they’ve even announced a new record deal with Reigning Phoenix Music. I guess that’s a thing now? Anyway, they’ve got a new lineup, with Jack Cattoi on guitar, Semir Özerkan on bass, and Berzan Önen on vocals. I’m not familiar with these guys, but I’m sure they’re great or whatever. 🤷‍♂️

So, what’s the deal with the new lineup? Well, according to Jeff Loomis, they spent a lot of time auditioning people to find the right fit. He told Moshpit Passion that they were looking for someone who could sing like Warrel Dane, but also bring their own style to the table. And apparently, Berzan Önen is that guy. He can sing Warrel’s parts almost perfectly, but also has his own identity. I guess that’s what they’re going for, anyway. 🎤

The New Sound

But what about the music? Will it still sound like NEVERMORE, or will it be some weird, new thing? According to Jeff, the core of the NEVERMORE sound is still there, but the new members will bring their own contributions to the table. He wants Berzan to contribute lyrics and melodies, and for Jack and Semir to contribute riffs. So, it’ll still be NEVERMORE, but with some new twists. I guess that’s a good thing? 🤔

Apparently, the band is planning to release a new album between October and March, and they’re going to use the next six months to make it the best album of their lives. Or, at the very least, that’s the plan. I’m sure it’ll be fine. 🙄 Jeff also mentioned that they’re going to work on the album in person, which is nice, I guess. I mean, who doesn’t love a good, old-fashioned, in-person collaboration? 🤝

The Past

So, what’s been going on with NEVERMORE since they disbanded? Well, Jeff released some solo albums, and he was also in ARCH ENEMY for a while. Van was doing his own thing, with projects like ASHES OF ARES and GHOST SHIP OCTAVIUS. And Warrel Dane, unfortunately, passed away in 2017. He was working on a solo album at the time, but it was released posthumously. 🙏

But hey, the past is the past, and now we’ve got a new NEVERMORE lineup to look forward to. Or, at the very least, to be mildly interested in. I mean, who knows what they’ll come up with? Maybe it’ll be amazing, or maybe it’ll be a disaster. Either way, it’ll be fun to watch, right? 🎉

So, there you have it. NEVERMORE is back, and they’re working on a new album. I’m sure it’ll be… something. 🤷‍♂️ Stay tuned, I guess. 🎸
