Folks, I’m sipping my coffee and reading about a bit of a mishap at Los Angeles International Airport, where a Delta Air Lines plane and an Air Canada jet had a little run-in on the tarmac. Apparently, the wing of the Delta plane clipped the tail of the Air Canada plane, which was being towed to its gate. I mean, who hasn’t had a morning like that, right? You’re just trying to get your day started, and then suddenly you’re involved in a minor aviation incident.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident, because that’s what they do. The Delta pilot radioed in to say that they were having an issue with the wing tip, and the Air Canada pilot asked if everything was okay after feeling a shudder. I can imagine the conversation: “Hey, did you just bump into me? Oh, sorry about that, I was just trying to get to my gate.”
Photos of the aircraft show minor damage to the wingtip and tail, which is a relief. I mean, it’s not like they were involved in a dramatic, explosive crash or anything. Although, I’m sure the folks at CNN were probably hoping for something a bit more sensational to report on. Somewhere in Atlanta, a producer thought this sounded terrifying, but really, it’s just a minor incident.
The Air Canada plane, a Boeing 777, had just arrived from Toronto, and it’s being taken out of service for inspection and repairs. The Delta plane, an Airbus A350, is also being inspected, because you can never be too careful when it comes to airline safety. I’m sure the passengers on board were a bit shaken, but thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Delta released a statement saying that the safety of their customers and people is their top priority, which is what you’d expect them to say. And the firefighters who checked the planes didn’t find any problems, so that’s a relief. All in all, it was just a minor incident, but I’m sure it’ll be a great story for the passengers to tell when they finally arrive at their destination.
The incident is a reminder that even with all the safety precautions in place, accidents can still happen. But thankfully, in this case, everything turned out okay. And let’s be real, it’s not like this is going to be a major news story or anything. I mean, it’s just a minor bump on the tarmac, right?
In conclusion, it seems like everything is under control, and the airlines are handling the situation as well as can be expected. The passengers are safe, and the planes are being inspected, so that’s a relief. And I’m just glad that I wasn’t on either of those flights, because I don’t think I could handle the excitement of a minor aviation incident before my morning coffee.
