Folks, I’m sipping my coffee and reading about President Trump’s latest comments on Ohio Sen. Jon Husted’s physical appearance, and I have to say, it’s a real treat. Apparently, Trump has been praising Husted’s muscular physique, and it’s become a running joke in Ohio. I mean, who doesn’t love a good joke about someone’s body, right? Husted himself even poked fun at it during a GOP gathering in rural western Ohio, saying “I know the president’s been talking about me as a football player and a few other things these days” to a crowd of knowing laughs.
I’m reading that Trump most recently praised Husted’s physical appearance during a rally in northern Kentucky, where he said “I examined his ass, and then I looked at his shoulders. I looked at his feet. I looked at his hand. I looked at his jawline… I then patted him on the shoulder, and it was like a piece of steel. I’m still recovering.” Okay, I think we get it, Mr. President, Husted is a big, strong guy.
It seems like Trump has a thing for commenting on people’s appearances, and Husted is just the latest target of his praise. Trump has long remarked on the appearances of those around him in politics, praising those who impress him as “central casting.” But his commentary has ramped up in recent days, and it’s been most effusive around Husted, who played football for the University of Dayton when the team won the Division III national title in 1989.
I’m chuckling to myself as I read about Husted leaning on his football background to rally Republicans in attendance for the “fourth quarter” of the election against Democrat Sherrod Brown. And Ohio’s other GOP senator, Bernie Moreno, made a clever comment about Trump’s remarks, saying “Unlike the president of the United States, I will not comment on his anatomy, but I will tell you that he’s a really, really good senator.”
It’s not just Husted who’s been on the receiving end of Trump’s comments, though. During a rally in Georgia, Trump compared the appearances of Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff and his Republican challenger, Mike Collins. And he’s also shown he’s willing to criticize the appearance of candidates within his own party, like Ken Paxton, the GOP nominee for Senate in Texas.
As I finish my coffee and wrap up this article, I have to say, it’s been a wild ride. Trump’s comments on people’s appearances are always good for a laugh, and this time is no exception. And in the end, it’s all just a big show, folks. So, let’s just sit back, enjoy the ride, and remember, it’s all about the politics, baby! 😊
