Oh boy, are you guys ready for some epic news? 🤯 I mean, I’m not sure if I can even handle it, but here goes… Jørn Lande and Tony Iommi are collaborating on a new album called “From The Dark”! 😲 I know, I know, it’s a lot to take in. The Norwegian singer is credited as co-writer on all eight tracks, and is joined on the album by Iommi, drummer Karl Brazil, and U.K.-based bassist Becky Baldwin. I mean, what’s not to love about that lineup? 🤘
So, what’s the album all about? Well, according to Lande, the lyrical themes are all about the darkness and hope in life. You know, the usual stuff. He said, “It was a lot of work, back and forth. Well, I think when you write original music, you wanna put your stamp on it, or you wanna make some kind of an imprint.” Yeah, no kidding. I mean, who doesn’t want to leave their mark on the world? 🤔
But seriously, Lande went on to say that the album is all about reflecting on the past, being in the present, and looking to the future. Deep stuff, guys. He also mentioned that there’s a lot of darkness in some of the songs, but also a lot of hope. Because, you know, balance is key. 🌈
The Making of “From The Dark”
Lande talked about how he approached writing the lyrics for the album, saying, “It’s [Tony’s] album. It is our work, but it’s his album. So as an old fan, I tried to, of course, do my best.” Aw, that’s sweet. He also mentioned that he took his time writing the lyrics, because, you know, it’s not every day you get to work with Tony Iommi. 🙌
And let’s not forget about the music itself. Lande said that the first single, “World Alone”, is very Dio-esque, but with his own twist. Because, you know, you can’t just copy Ronnie James Dio. That’s just not how it works. 🙅♂️
