Oh boy, are you ready for this? 🤯 The Beatles are getting their own theme park, and it’s going to be a real thing! I mean, who wouldn’t want to pay money to walk through a recreation of the Cavern Club or Abbey Road? It’s not like you can just, I don’t know, visit the actual places or anything. But hey, who needs authenticity when you can have immersive technology and reconstructed sets, right? 🎉
So, Apple Corps Ltd. has announced plans to move The Beatles Story attraction from its current home in Liverpool’s Albert Dock to a brand-new site in the heart of the city. The new location will be over 100,000 square feet, which is more than four times the size of the current attraction. And, because one Beatles-themed experience isn’t enough, they’re also adding a Yellow Submarine-themed viewing experience to the St Johns Beacon, which will offer a panoramic 360-degree view of Liverpool. Because, you know, the city wasn’t already famous enough.
The Beatles Story: A New Chapter
The new attraction will be operated by Apple Corps, the company founded in 1968 to oversee The Beatles’ creative and business interests. It will feature immersive technology, original artifacts, and reconstructed sets to bring The Beatles’ story to life. Visitors will be able to journey through the world that created The Beatles, from post-war Liverpool to the heights of their international fame. And, of course, there will be plenty of opportunities to buy Beatles-themed merchandise, because what’s a theme park without overpriced souvenirs?
But wait, there’s more! The attraction will also include a number of immersive locations created using sets and props from Sam Mendes’ upcoming “The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event”, which will be released in cinemas in April 2028. Because, you know, The Beatles’ story isn’t already well-documented enough. And, hey, who needs to watch a documentary when you can pay to walk through a recreated version of the band’s history?
Sarcasm aside, it’s actually pretty cool that The Beatles Story will be contributing to the Apple Corps Liverpool Trust, a charitable initiative that will provide financial support and opportunities for emerging Liverpool artists and local cultural endeavors. So, if you’re a Beatles fan with a lot of money to burn, you can feel good about supporting the next generation of Liverpool talent. And, who knows, maybe one of them will be the next Beatles. (Just kidding, that’s never going to happen.)
A World-Class Destination
The new attraction is set to open in 2028, and it’s being hailed as a “world-class destination” that will bring millions of fans to Liverpool. Because, you know, the city wasn’t already a popular tourist destination. But hey, who needs to visit the actual Liverpool when you can visit a theme park version of it? Apple Corps CEO Tom Greene commented, “Liverpool birthed the greatest band in history and today we are announcing a new experience in the city that does justice to that legacy.” Yeah, because nothing says “justice” like a theme park.
Paul McCartney also weighed in, saying, “I find it incredible and humbling that people are still interested in our story and it’s very exciting to me that The Beatles Story and The Beacon are being transformed in such an exciting way in the heart of Liverpool city.” Yeah, because it’s not like The Beatles are still widely popular or anything. Ringo Starr also commented, “Liverpool was, and still is, music city. And now we are expanding The Beatles Story Experience in Liverpool — how far out.” Yeah, because that’s exactly what Liverpool needs, more Beatles-themed stuff.
In all seriousness, though, it’s pretty cool that The Beatles Story will be supporting emerging Liverpool artists. And, hey, if you’re a die-hard Beatles fan, you’ll probably love the new attraction. But, for the rest of us, it’s just another theme park to add to the list of overpriced tourist traps. So, go ahead and shell out your hard-earned cash to walk through a recreation of the Cavern Club. Just don’t forget to buy a souvenir t-shirt on your way out. 🎸
