According to the speech excerpts shared with CNN, Harris will say that Democrats need to be ready for a much fiercer fight, because the new Republican Party built in Trump’s image is all about creating a “smash-and-grab world” where they “sow chaos, grab wealth and abuse power.” Sounds like a real party, doesn’t it? Somewhere in Atlanta, a producer thought this sounded terrifying, and I can see why.
Harris will also call for using government revenue to reduce costs on housing and healthcare, addressing inequality in the tax code, and improving access to skills training. But, of course, she won’t get into specifics, because that would be too easy. Instead, she’ll just say that government needs to earn the trust of the people by responding to their actual needs with speed and transparency. Yeah, because that’s exactly what’s been missing from politics – transparency and speed.
As I finish my coffee, I’m left wondering what Harris’s next move will be. Will she announce her candidacy for president? Probably not, since she’s not scheduled to make any big announcements on Friday. But hey, a guy can dream, right? In conclusion, it seems like Kamala Harris is gearing up for a fight, and I’m here for it.
