Oh boy, get ready for some serious nostalgia overload 🙄! Adam “Nergal” Darski, the mastermind behind Polish extreme metal band BEHEMOTH, just announced a live project with Icelandic black metal band MISÞYRMING to perform their 1995 debut album “Sventevith (Storming Near The Baltic)” in its entirety. Because, you know, it’s not like we’ve been begging for this or anything 🙄. I mean, who wouldn’t want to revisit a 30-year-old album? It’s not like BEHEMOTH has released any good music since then or anything 😒.
So, Nergal spoke with Jerry Kurunen of Finland’s Rauta about this exciting new project, and let me tell you, it’s a real thrill-ride 🎢. Apparently, Nergal used to mock bands that did full-album tours, but now he’s eating his words and doing it himself. Who wouldn’t want to revisit the past, right? I mean, it’s not like BEHEMOTH has anything better to do, like, say, releasing new music or something 🤷♂️.
The Nostalgia Train
Nergal said, “Yes. And I remember, it was around ‘The Satanist’ era, when I would officially mock bands that would do, like, ‘Oh, we’re doing this album tour,’ or ‘we’re doing that album tour.'” Yeah, because that’s exactly what we need, more bands cashing in on nostalgia 🤑. But hey, at least Nergal is honest about it. He’s like, “Hey, I used to be against this, but now I’m doing it, and I’m kinda cool with it, I guess 🤔.”
But seriously, Nergal does make some good points about revisiting old albums. He mentions that some records, like “Demigod”, could be played live and might even gain more from the experience. And who knows, maybe they’ll even throw in some new songs to make it interesting 🤔. But let’s be real, we all know what we’re really here for: to hear “Sventevith (Storming Near The Baltic)” in all its 30-year-old glory 🙌.
What’s Next?
Nergal also talks about other BEHEMOTH albums that could get the full-album live treatment in the future. He mentions “Demigod”, “Evangelium”, and even “The Satanist” (although they’ve already done that one 🙄). But let’s not get too excited, folks, Nergal also says that some records, like “Zos Kia Cultus”, are just not meant to be revisited 🚫. I mean, who needs closure, right? 🤷♂️.
Anyway, BEHEMOTH is taking some time off after this tour, so we won’t have to worry about them releasing any new music or anything 🙅♂️. But hey, at least we have “The Shit Ov God” to hold us over until they decide to come back and bless us with more of their presence 🙏. And who knows, maybe they’ll even play some of those old albums live again 🎉. A metalhead can dream, right? 😴
In conclusion, BEHEMOTH is doing a thing, and we’re all just along for the ride 🎠. So, grab your nostalgia glasses and get ready to rock out to some 30-year-old tunes 🤘. And who knows, maybe you’ll even discover some new music 🎵. But let’s be real, we all know what we’re really here for: to relive the good old days and pretend like we’re still cool 😎.
