Air Force One gets emergency parachute before Trump's big exit

Folks, I’m sipping my coffee and reading about President Donald Trump’s latest adventure, and I have to say, it’s a doozy. Apparently, there was an issue with the new presidential aircraft that delayed his departure for the GOP convention in Dallas on Wednesday. The problem? An emergency slide deployed on the far side of the plane. I mean, who hasn’t had one of those mornings, right? You’re getting ready to take off, and suddenly, there’s a giant inflatable slide just chillin’ on the side of the plane.

I’m reading that the emergency slide was accidentally deployed on the Qatari-gifted jet that’s serving as Air Force One, according to a source familiar with the matter. But, of course, Trump had to weigh in and suggest that the deployment of the slide was intentional. Because, you know, that’s exactly what you want to hear when you’re about to get on a plane – that the emergency slide is just out for a casual test run.

The president told reporters on the tarmac that “they were doing a check on the slide, you know, in the emergency. So, I think it takes about 15 minutes.” Okay, sure, because that’s exactly how emergency slides work. You just casually deploy them, and then, hey, everything is fine. I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure that’s not how it goes down.

Trump landed at Joint Base Andrews aboard Marine One, and around the same time, the emergency slide was seen extended from the new plane. because, why not? The older Air Force One with a light blue paint job soon pulled up and parked behind the new aircraft, and crews were told the older plane was serving as Wednesday’s backup. You know, just in case the new plane decided to deploy any more surprise slides.

The president remained aboard Marine One for more than 20 minutes as the situation unfolded on the tarmac. I’m imagining him sitting there, sipping his coffee, thinking, “What’s the holdup, folks?” Finally, at 2:24 p.m., the stairs of Marine One were extended, and the president stepped off to board the new jet. I hope he had a good stretch, because that’s a long time to be sitting on a helicopter.

When asked whether he knew the reason for the inspection and whether there was a security concern, Trump said, “I guess they’ve already put it up. They want to make sure everything works perfectly.” Ah, okay, that clears things up. And when asked if he was confident that it was safe to fly, Trump responded, “Yeah, I am, or I wouldn’t be on it.” Well, that’s reassuring. I mean, who needs safety protocols when you’ve got Trump’s gut instinct?

A White House spokesperson referred to Trump’s comments when asked for more information about what caused the issue. Because, you know, the president’s word is gospel. Trump also mentioned that the Qatari-gifted jet is already well-equipped but will be sent for further upgrades in October. You know, just to max it out, so it can go into any territory. I’m not sure what that means, but it sounds like some top-secret stuff.

The president is planning to take the Qatari-gifted jet when he travels to Ireland later this week. Because, why not? It’s not like there have been any security concerns or anything. Just two months ago, he flew it to Turkey and then secretly left the country on an alternate plane because of security concerns. But, hey, that’s all water under the bridge now.

In conclusion, it’s just another day in the world of Trump, folks. Emergency slides, secret planes, and Gut Instinct Airlines. You can’t make this stuff up, but somehow, it all seems to work out in the end. And that’s a wrap, folks! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to refill my coffee cup, because this story has left me feeling a little exhausted 🙄.
