Oh no, it’s happening again! 🙄 BUSH is re-releasing their sophomore album “Razorblade Suitcase” in a deluxe edition, because apparently, we didn’t already have enough of their music in our lives. I mean, who needs new music when you can just re-release old stuff, right? 😒 The album, which originally came out 30 years ago (yeah, I feel old too), will be available on 2-CD and digital on December 11 via Craft Recordings. Because, you know, we all need more CDs to clutter our shelves.
The original album, released on November 19, 1996, was a bit of a departure from their debut “Sixteen Stone”. Gavin Rossdale and the band worked with Steve Albini, who brought his signature raw and uncompromising approach to the table. The result was a darker, harder-edged sound that still managed to produce some pretty big hits, like “Swallowed” and “Greedy Fly”. I mean, who can forget the iconic lyrics “I don’t want to come back down from this cloud”? 🌫️
The Deluxe Edition: Because You Clearly Didn’t Have Enough BUSH in Your Life
The deluxe edition of “Razorblade Suitcase” comes with a bunch of extras, including B-sides, previously unreleased demos, and live recordings. Because, you know, the original 13 tracks just weren’t enough. 🙄 The set includes demos of “Greedy Fly” and “Cold Contagious”, as well as live recordings of “Glycerine” and “Insect Kin”. And, of course, no deluxe edition would be complete without a few tracks that were previously only available on obscure compilations or soundtracks. I mean, who doesn’t love a good game of “track down the rare B-side”? 🎉
But wait, there’s more! The deluxe edition also includes a remix of “In A Lonely Place”, which was originally recorded for the soundtrack of “The Crow: City Of Angels”. Because, you know, that movie wasn’t already a masterpiece of 90s cinema. 🙃 The track was produced and mixed by Tricky, who apparently decided to take BUSH’s rock intensity and experimental edge and turn it into something entirely different. I mean, who needs a consistent sound when you can just throw a bunch of random elements together? 🤯
BUSH: Still Rocking After All These Years
Despite being one of the most enduring and dynamic forces in rock music, BUSH still manages to surprise us with their ability to produce decent music. I mean, their tenth studio album “I Beat Loneliness” (2025) was actually pretty good, with over 20 million streams and a No. 1 single on U.S. Active Rock Radio. 📈 And let’s not forget their standout “Tiny Desk” performance, which was somehow both intimate and energetic at the same time. 🤩
The band has been on a roll lately, with a hugely successful headline tour, first-time appearances at Stagecoach and BottleRock, and international dates across Germany, the U.K. and Australia. And, of course, they managed to deliver a magnetic closing performance at Stagecoach just before the storm hit. Because, you know, nothing says “rock and roll” like playing a show in the middle of a storm. 🌪️
In conclusion, if you’re a die-hard BUSH fan (or just a glutton for punishment), you’ll probably want to pick up the deluxe edition of “Razorblade Suitcase”. I mean, who wouldn’t want to relive the magic of 1996 all over again? 🎉 But for the rest of us, maybe we can just stick to the original album and call it a day. 😴
