US Military’s Laser Gun Dreams Cause El Paso Airport to Hit the Pause Button

Trump’s America Leads the World in Laser Defense Tech While Libs Whine About “Safety”

Breaking news, patriots: while the Democrats are still crying about pronouns and electric cars, President Trump’s Defense Department is bringing Star Wars-level tech to our border. An anti-drone laser system in El Paso was so effective at stopping Mexican cartel drones that the FAA had to shut down the airspace. Sounds like a success to me!

Customs and Border Protection was using this cutting-edge counter-drone laser technology that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth personally approved. But of course, the liberal media is calling it a “problem” instead of celebrating our military’s technological superiority.

Since at least the 1960s, the Pentagon has been researching these directed energy weapons. And now, under Trump’s leadership, we’re finally seeing results. The first directed energy weapon was deployed in 2014 aboard the USS Ponce. But the surge in drone warfare in Ukraine and threats to our troops in the Middle East has accelerated development.

In November, the Pentagon’s head of research whittled down technology priorities, with directed energy making the cut as one of six areas receiving resources. These lasers can shoot down drones, complete short-range air defense missions, and defend against rockets, artillery, and mortar attacks.

The Army has already demonstrated mobile high-energy laser systems that successfully took down small drones. And just last fall, they put out requests for information on an Enduring-High Energy Laser to combat drones weighing under 1,320 pounds.

Not to be outdone, the Air Force deployed a high-energy laser weapon system developed by RTX overseas for the first time in 2019. Lockheed Martin has also developed a high-energy laser for the Navy called HELIOS, which was delivered in 2022. The USS Preble became the first ship outfitted with this technology.

The Navy’s top surface warfare officer, Vice Adm. Brendan McLane, said at the Surface Navy Association National Symposium that the Preble’s use of HELIOS is an example of the military developing future platforms to “deliver on their promise to the American people.”

“I am committed to advancing laser technology to the fleet. The dream of a laser on every ship can become a real one,” McLane said. Meanwhile, Biden was busy sniffing kids and letting China build their military. Sad!
