Progressives Cheer Socialist Victory in NJ—Because America Clearly Needs More Marxism!
In a shocking turn of events that no one saw coming, Analilia Mejia—a self-proclaimed disciple of Bernie Sanders and certified member of the “let’s turn America into Venezuela” club—has clinched the Democratic nomination in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District. Apparently, voters in this deep-blue district decided they wanted even more socialism, higher taxes, and endless lectures about systemic oppression. Congratulations?
Mejia, who proudly served as political director for Bernie’s 2020 campaign (you know, the one where he promised free everything while somehow still being mad about everything), celebrated her win by trashing her own party’s leadership. In an interview with CNN—because where else would you go to complain about Democrats?—she whined about “MAGA, Trumpism, and Donald Trump’s administration” while simultaneously bashing her own side for being too moderate. Yes, because nothing says “unity” like attacking everyone in sight.
Her opponent, former Rep. Tom Malinowski, graciously conceded, calling Mejia’s campaign “positive.” Sure, Tom, if by “positive” you mean relentlessly pushing for policies that would make even California blush. Meanwhile, other also-rans like former Lt. Gov. Tahesha Way and Essex County commissioner Brendan Gill are probably wondering what went wrong. Spoiler alert: it’s the socialism, folks.
Now, Mejia will face Republican Joe Hathaway in the general election on April 16. Given that this district voted overwhelmingly for Kamala Harris in 2024, it’s safe to say Hathaway has his work cut out for him. But hey, maybe there’s still hope for sanity in the Garden State. After all, someone has to stop the radical left from turning New Jersey into a socialist utopia. Godspeed, Joe. You’re going to need it.
