Folks, I’m reading this article on CNN while sipping my morning coffee, and I have to say, it’s a doozy. President Trump is making waves in the meatpacking industry, vowing to make it easier for ranchers to process their own meat. Because, you know, the current system is just too darn complicated. I mean, who needs regulations and safety inspections when you’ve got good ol’ American know-how, right? Trump says he wants to weaken the control of the big four meatpacking firms, and I’m sure that’s just music to the ears of all the smaller ranchers out there.
Now, I’m not exactly sure how Trump plans to alter the regulations, but I’m sure it’ll be a real treat to watch. I mean, it’s not like the meatpacking industry is already a complex web of rules and guidelines or anything. And hey, who needs expertise when you’ve got a Twitter account and a penchant for making deals? Trump’s been under fire from cattle ranchers and rural Republican lawmakers lately, and this move is likely an attempt to appease them.
It’s worth noting that Trump’s decision to temporarily pause tariffs on imported ground beef didn’t exactly go over well with domestic meat producers. I guess that’s what happens when you try to lower prices for consumers without thinking about the actual consequences. But hey, at least Trump is consistent, right? He’s always looking out for the little guy, unless the little guy is a rancher who wants to sell his own meat, in which case, well, you get the idea.

The details of Trump’s plan are still a bit fuzzy, but I’m sure it’ll all become clear eventually. Maybe. Possibly. Hopefully? In the meantime, I’ll just be over here, sipping my coffee and waiting for the other shoe to drop.
