Folks, I almost spilled my coffee reading this one. It seems like the new White House press secretary, Katie Zacharia, has been presenting herself as a lawyer, but there’s a catch – she doesn’t meet the requirements to use that title in her home state. I mean, come on, that’s like me saying I’m a doctor just because I played one in a high school play. Bless their hearts, it looks like the White House vetting process might be a little lacking. According to CNN, Zacharia has a law degree from the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, but she doesn’t appear to have passed the bar exam in any state where she’s lived and worked. You can’t make this stuff up.
Now, I’m not saying it’s a huge deal that Zacharia isn’t a licensed lawyer, but it’s definitely a problem when she’s going around calling herself one on TV. I mean, what’s next? Me saying I’m a brain surgeon because I’ve watched a few YouTube videos? Somewhere in Atlanta, a producer thought this sounded terrifying, and now we’ve got a whole story about it. It’s not like the White House press secretary is required to be a lawyer or anything, but still, you’d think they’d want someone who’s at least honest about their credentials.
It gets even better, though. Apparently, Zacharia claims to have obtained some kind of credential in China, but it’s not clear what that is or whether it’s even relevant. And when reporters asked Trump about it, she chimed in with some vague statement about moving to China with her husband. I’m not sure what’s more confusing, the fact that she’s not a licensed lawyer or the fact that she’s got some mysterious Chinese credential that nobody understands.
Now, I know some of you might be thinking, “Big Elephant, this is all just a big distraction from the real issues.” And you’re right, it is. I mean, who cares about Zacharia’s law credentials when there are bigger fish to fry, like the war in Iran or the economy? But at the same time, it’s hard not to get caught up in the drama of it all. It’s like a bad soap opera, and I am here. for. it.
The thing is, Trump is his own spokesman, and he’s going to need some good help if he wants to navigate the upcoming investigations and controversies. Maybe Zacharia will surprise us all and turn out to be a brilliant press secretary, law credentials or not. But until then, I’ll just be over here, sipping my coffee and enjoying the show.
In conclusion, the whole Zacharia-law-credentials debacle is a bit of a mess, but it’s also kind of entertaining. I mean, who doesn’t love a good story about someone getting caught in a web of their own dishonesty? And hey, maybe this will all blow over, and Zacharia will come out on top. But until then, I’ll just be over here, shaking my head and muttering, “You can’t make this stuff up.” 😂
