Folks, I’m sipping my coffee and reading about the latest political ad from the Democrats, and I’ve got to say, it’s quite a story. The campaign arm working to elect House Democrats has released an ad featuring the family of Virginia Giuffre, who was a victim of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse. The ad is supporting Democratic candidate Jessica Killin, who is running against incumbent Republican Rep. Jeff Crank in Colorado’s 5th Congressional District. I’m not surprised they’re using this tactic, but it’s still a pretty bold move.
The ad features Giuffre’s brother and sister-in-law speaking directly to the camera, criticizing Crank for not meeting with them while lawmakers were considering votes to release files related to Epstein. I can see why they’re upset, but it’s not like Crank was directly involved in the whole Epstein mess. Still, it’s a clever way for the Democrats to try to gain some traction in the district.
The ad is pretty emotional, with Giuffre’s brother Sky Roberts saying, “My sister, Virginia, was one of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims. She spent her life trying to expose the truth. After she died, we promised to carry on her fight.” His sister-in-law Amanda Roberts adds, “But our own congressman, Jeff Crank, refused to meet with us. Then, when he had the chance to expose the truth and release the Epstein files, he repeatedly voted to cover them up.” I’m not sure if that’s entirely accurate, but it’s definitely a compelling narrative.
The ad ends with the two meeting with Killin over cups of coffee, which is a nice touch. It’s a clear attempt to humanize her and make her seem more relatable to voters. Crank’s campaign hasn’t responded to the ad yet, but I’m sure they’ll come up with something soon.
It’s worth noting that Crank did vote to pass the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which compelled the government to release extensive files related to the investigation into Epstein. He also said at the time, “I have consistently supported transparency and accountability regarding the business dealings, investigation, and prosecution of Jeffrey Epstein.” So, it’s not like he’s been completely silent on the issue.
Epstein’s death in 2019 sparked a lot of conspiracy theories, and it’s still a pretty intriguing story. The fact that he was connected to powerful men like President Donald Trump and former President Bill Clinton only adds to the mystery. Both Trump and Clinton have denied having knowledge of Epstein’s crimes, but it’s still a bit suspicious.
The 5th Congressional District in Colorado is looking like it might be in play for the Democrats, which is surprising given that it’s typically a Republican stronghold. Crank won the seat in 2024 by about 13 points, but it’s clear that the Democrats are trying to make a push for it this time around.
In conclusion, this ad is a clever move by the Democrats, but it’s not necessarily a game-changer. The Epstein story is still a complex and fascinating one, and it’s clear that both sides are going to try to use it to their advantage. As I finish my coffee, I’ve got to say, it’s going to be an interesting election season. And who knows, maybe the Democrats will actually manage to flip the district – but I wouldn’t bet my coffee mug on it.
