Nine Inch Nails were our 2025 Live Act of the Year due to a dynamic show that included a cinematic four-act structure, a striking B-stage setup, a wide-ranging setlist, and some of the most spectacular lighting ever seen. Yet for John Waters, he found NIN’s audience the most interesting part of it all.
During a recent appearance on La Culturistas, the Pope of Trash shared that he caught NIN’s show in Anaheim earlier this year. “I just like looking at the audience. It’s wild,” Waters observed. “I just like to look at the kids. I just think they look great and they’re having fun. And I’m always the oldest person there ever since William Burroughs died. I’m the oldest person at these events, and—not that I’m the same, but he was always the oldest when I was and went anywhere.”
“I just like to see the energy of it,” he added. “I hate old people my age who say, ‘We had more fun.’ No you didn’t, you just don’t know what’s going on.”
Upcoming Tours and Projects
While NIN are on a live hiatus for the time being (as they work on new music), Waters recently announced a return to the road for his annual Christmas tour.
John Waters and Nine Inch Nails may have different styles, but they both know how to put on a show. Waters is set to embark on his Christmas tour soon, and NIN are working on new music. Fans of both artists can look forward to new and exciting projects from these legends in the entertainment industry.
