LOS ANGELES—In an announcement that led fans to praise the “perfect casting,” actor Ryan Gosling confirmed Tuesday that he was officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the role of Stan Lee cameos. “As a lifelong fan of the comics, it’s an honor to take on the mantle of my favorite MCU character, Stanley Lieber, also known by his alter ego, Stan Lee,” said Gosling, who expressed excitement at the “opportunity of a lifetime” to deliver quippy one-liners while dressed up as a hot dog cart worker or mail carrier. “It was a tough audition process, and ultimately it came down to either me or Glen Powell, but Kevin Feige saw my ‘Excelsior’ tattoo and knew I had the passion to get the job done. I’ve studied every cameo dozens of times, and I’m sure these two-second roles giving a knowing smile to Ant-Man on a bus or yelling at Bruce Banner out a window will be everything I’ve ever imagined them to be. I can’t say for sure if I’m in Doomsday  yet, but let’s just say there will be a certain oblivious library desk attendant that audiences are going to really love.” Gosling told reporters he was already working with a trainer six times a week to perfect his hunch.
