Oh boy, are you guys ready for some more Nightwish? 🤩 Because Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboardist and main songwriter, just spilled the beans about their upcoming plans, and I’m not sure if I should be excited or concerned for my sanity. 🤯
Apparently, since the release of their latest album “Yesterwynde” in 2024, Tuomas has been on a roll, working on new music non-stop. He told Chaoszine that he’s been having the time of his life, and I’m starting to think he’s been mainlining coffee or something. “It’s all been about music in my life, and I’ve absolutely loved it,” he said. Well, that’s great, Tuomas, but don’t burn out, dude.
In all seriousness, Tuomas has been busy working on a new solo album, which is set to be released sometime next year. He’s also been collaborating with James Shearman on the orchestrations, and they’ll be recording them in London later this year. And if that’s not enough, he’s also been working on the next Nightwish album, which is set to be recorded in May next year. I mean, I’m excited and all, but can’t he just take a break and watch some Netflix like a normal person?
The Nightwish Hiatus: A Blessing in Disguise?
Tuomas also talked about the band’s decision to take a break, which, let’s be real, was a surprise to no one. I mean, they’ve been touring non-stop for years, and it’s a wonder they haven’t all lost their minds yet. Troy Donockley, the band’s multi-instrumentalist, said in an interview with Rock Hard Greece that they realized they were in danger of burning out, so they decided to take a step back and recapture their balance. Well, it seems like it’s been a good decision, because Tuomas is now bursting with creativity, and we can expect some amazing new music from them soon.
But, of course, the big question on everyone’s mind is: when will they return to the live stage? 🤔 Well, according to Tuomas, it’s not going to be anytime soon. He said that next year is too early, and they want to focus on recording new music first. But, Troy Donockley hinted that they might do something live to mark their 30th anniversary in 2027. So, we’ll just have to wait and see, folks.
A Retrospective Collection and a New Solo Album from Floor Jansen
In other Nightwish news, a new retrospective collection called “The Greatest 30 Years On Earth” will be released on December 11 via Nuclear Blast Records. It’s going to be a love letter to fans, with rare audio, visual spectacles, and behind-the-scenes access. And, if that’s not enough, Floor Jansen will be releasing a new solo album called “Hytress” on January 15, 2027, via REVAMP Music/Warner Music. She’ll also be embarking on a comprehensive tour in 2027, so mark your calendars, folks.
So, there you have it. Nightwish is back, and they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. Well, except for maybe a few years, but who’s counting? 🤣
