JAY-Z took it back to the beginning during the first of three Yankee Stadium shows on Friday, July 10th, celebrating the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt. Of the 24 songs performed, nine came from Reasonable Doubt. He kicked off the night with “Can’t Knock the Hustle” with Beyoncé subbing for Mary J. Blige. His daughter, Blue Ivy, played piano to open the “Feelin It.” Other album tracks performed included “Brooklyn’s Finest,” “Dead Presidents,” “D’evils,” “22 Two’s,” “Friend or Foe,” and “Regrets.”
The night also saw foe-turned-friend Nas guest on “World Is Yours,” “N.Y. Upcoming Shows
The other Yankee Stadium shows will see JAY-Z celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint on Saturday, July 11th, with an “Extra Innings” concert concluding the run on Sunday, July 12th. After that, he’ll play more 30th anniversary shows at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on September 4th, Paris’ Stade de France on September 10th, and Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium on October 23rd.
