OH BOY, MARILYN MANSON IS BACK WITH ANOTHER ALBUM AND I’M JUST SO EXCITED 🤩… said no one ever. I mean, who needs genuine enthusiasm when you can just pretend to be excited about the latest release from a guy who’s been trying to shock us for decades? 🙄 Anyway, Marilyn Manson’s new album “One Assassination Under God — Chapter 2” is out, and I’m sure it’s just what you’ve all been waiting for. I mean, who wouldn’t want to listen to an album from a guy who’s been accused of multiple sexual assaults and has been trying to make a comeback for years? 🤷‍♂️

So, what’s the album all about? Well, it’s the follow-up to 2024’s “One Assassination Under God — Chapter 1”, which was a collaboration with Tyler Bates and Shooter Jennings. This time around, Bates is back as co-collaborator and producer, but the album doesn’t quite live up to the standards set by its predecessor. It’s more accessible, but also more pedestrian. Because, you know, who needs edge and controversy when you can just make an album that’s easy to listen to? 🙄

The Album: A Track-by-Track Breakdown

The album starts off with “Unalive”, which features a flowing lead guitar line and the line “Eyes may cry, but I’ll never weep”. Oh, wow, so deep 🙄. And, of course, Manson had to throw in a veiled reference to his ongoing fallout over multiple sexual assault allegations. Because, you know, that’s not a tired tactic at all 🙄. The best song on the album is probably “Don’t Answer The Door”, which is a stalking, urgent number with simple yet effective chord patterns and effects. But, hey, who needs originality when you can just rehash old ideas? 🤷‍♂️

The rest of the album is a mixed bag. “All The Vilest Things” is a radio-rock song with annoying production values, while “Lucifer’s Teardrop” has a country-western post-punk flavor that’s actually kind of interesting. But, hey, don’t get too excited, because the album also features songs like “Exit Wound” and “Enantiomorph”, which are just space-rock exercises that go nowhere. Because, you know, who needs substance when you can just fill up space with noodling? 🙄

The Verdict: A Lackluster Effort

By and large, “One Assassination Under God — Chapter 2” feels like an outpost for the leftover songs from its predecessor. It’s a lackluster effort that fails to deliver on the promises made by Manson’s earlier work. And, of course, the whole “woe is me” or “I’m the victim” thing is just getting old. I mean, come on, Manson, you’re not a victim, you’re a guy who’s been accused of multiple sexual assaults and is trying to make a comeback. Get over yourself 🙄.

So, there you have it. Marilyn Manson’s new album is out, and it’s just what you’d expect from a guy who’s been trying to shock us for decades. It’s a tired, lackluster effort that fails to deliver on the promises made by his earlier work. But, hey, if you’re a die-hard Manson fan, you’ll probably love it. Because, you know, who needs quality when you can just have more of the same old thing? 🤷‍♂️
