Trump doxes lawmaker in thrilling Daylight Saving Time drama

Trump doxes lawmaker in thrilling Daylight Saving Time drama

Folks, I’m sipping my coffee and reading about President Donald Trump’s latest social media rant, and I have to say, it’s a wild ride. Apparently, Trump is going after Sen. Tom Cotton, accusing him of holding up a bill that would make Daylight Saving Time permanent. Because, you know, that’s the most pressing issue facing our nation right now. Trump even went so far as to share Cotton’s cellphone number, because why not, right? I mean, who needs privacy when you’re a public figure?

Now, I’m not sure what’s more amusing, the fact that Trump thinks this is a winning issue or that he’s trying to bully a senator into supporting it. Cotton, for his part, is having none of it, and I don’t blame him. I mean, who wants to deal with a bunch of angry calls from Trump’s followers? Bless their hearts. Cotton’s voicemail box was full when CNN tried to call him, and later, the phone just rang and rang before an automated voice said the “wireless customer” was not available. Yeah, I’d be avoiding calls too if I were him.

It’s worth noting that the House has already passed a measure to make Daylight Saving Time permanent, but the Senate hasn’t moved on it yet. Trump, of course, has been critical of the semiannual clock change, but his position on whether we should stick with standard time or Daylight Saving Time has shifted over time. Because, you know, consistency is overrated. Cotton, on the other hand, has opposed changing the status quo, citing concerns about later sunrises and the impact on farmers. You can’t make this stuff up, folks.

The back-and-forth between Trump and Cotton is like a bad tennis match, with each side volleying insults and accusations. Trump posted on Truth Social, “To the Great People of Arkansas, please let your Senator know it would be a GREAT Bipartisan WIN for the United States Senate, and for America, itself.” Cotton responded on X, saying that Arkansans don’t want their kids going to school in the pitch dark, and he’ll always put Arkansas first. Somewhere in Atlanta, a producer thought this sounded terrifying, and now we’re treated to this drama.

Proponents of making Daylight Saving Time permanent argue that it would spare Americans from having to change their clocks and disrupt young children’s sleep schedules. Critics, on the other hand, say it could have economic consequences, particularly for farmers. Because, you know, farmers are already having a great time dealing with climate change and trade wars. Trump, of course, is undeterred, writing, “TAKE THE WIN TOM, JUST TAKE THE WIN! YOU NEED IT, AND SO DOES OUR BELOVED REPUBLICAN PARTY!” Yeah, because that’s exactly what the Republican Party needs, another publicity stunt.

It’s not the first time Trump has revealed a sitting senator’s number, by the way. He did it to Sen. Lindsey Graham back in 2016, because why not, right? I mean, who needs dignity or decency when you’re a politician? This whole thing is just a big circus, folks, and I’m just here for the popcorn.

In conclusion, this whole debacle is a perfect example of how our politicians can get bogged down in the most trivial issues. I mean, who cares about Daylight Saving Time when there are real problems to solve? But hey, at least it’s entertaining. And who knows, maybe Trump will start a new trend, and we’ll all be sharing our personal phone numbers on social media. Wouldn’t that be fun? 🙄 As I finish my coffee, I’m left wondering what’s next in this saga. Will Cotton cave to Trump’s pressure, or will he stand firm? One thing’s for sure, folks, it’ll be a wild ride.
