Trump Casually Mentions Iran Maybe Destroying Major US Cities Again

Folks, I almost spilled my coffee reading this one. President Donald Trump is at it again, making comments that have officials in California up in arms. Apparently, he suggested that Iran could “take out” Los Angeles or San Diego, and I’m just sitting here thinking, “What in the world?” The President made these comments at a rally in Grand Island, Nebraska, ahead of the midterm elections, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride ever since.

I mean, I’ve seen some things in my time, but this takes the cake. Trump said that the consequences of a war with Iran would be a “small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe,” and then he goes and mentions that Iran could potentially take out an American city. I’m no expert, but that sounds like a pretty big deal to me. And the best part is, he specifically mentioned Los Angeles and San Diego, because, you know, those aren’t major cities or anything.

Now, I know Trump has been criticized for his comments before, but this one takes the cake. The White House Communications Director, Steven Cheung, tried to spin it by saying that Trump was “clearly stating U.S. cities would have been threatened if a nuclear Iran hadn’t been stopped.” But let’s be real, folks, that’s not exactly what the President said. And even if it was, it’s not like it makes it any better. I mean, come on, who talks like that?

The Democrats, of course, are having a field day with this one. Governor Gavin Newsom called Trump “deranged and dangerous,” while Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said that the statements about the city “could potentially compromise our safety.” And I’m just over here thinking, “Well, yeah, no kidding.” The Mayor of San Diego, Todd Gloria, also weighed in, saying that the city “is not collateral damage. We are not expendable. And we are never a ‘small price to pay.’” I’ve got to say, I’m with him on that one.

But you know who’s not with Trump on this one? Republican congressional candidate Jim Desmond, who said he “vehemently” disagreed with the President. And let me tell you, that’s saying something. Desmond said that “America must stand up to Iran and defend our interests, but the first responsibility of our Commander in Chief is to protect the American people and our homeland.” Now, that’s a statement I can get behind.

It’s worth noting that Trump has been criticizing California and its leaders for a while now, over things like immigration, elections, and wildfires. So, maybe this is just another example of that. But still, it’s not exactly the kind of thing you want to hear from the President of the United States. I mean, can you imagine if someone said that about your hometown? You’d be a little upset, right?

The President also repeated his claim that the war is “going to end very soon,” which is interesting because it’s already been going on for seven months. And at the beginning of the war, Trump said it would only last a few weeks. So, I’m not sure what’s going on there. Maybe he’s just trying to sound optimistic, but it’s not exactly reassuring.

In any case, this whole thing is just a big mess. And I’m just sitting here, sipping my coffee, thinking, “What’s next?” I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. But one thing’s for sure, folks, it’s going to be a long few weeks. And who knows, maybe by the time it’s all said and done, we’ll be talking about something entirely different. But for now, let’s just take a deep breath and try to make sense of it all. And maybe, just maybe, our President will think before he speaks. But I wouldn’t count on it, if I were you. 😂
