I can barely contain my excitement… or my sarcasm. 💁‍♀️ Ritchie Blackmore, the 81-year-old guitar legend, is joining Deep Purple on stage for the first time in over three decades. Because, you know, what could possibly go wrong with an 81-year-old man playing rock music? 🤦‍♂️ I mean, it’s not like he’s going to need an oxygen tank on stage or anything. 🚑

Apparently, Blackmore announced his guest appearance during an Instagram Live with his wife Candice Night on Tuesday, and I’m pretty sure the entire metal community just lost their minds. 🤯 I mean, who wouldn’t want to see Ritchie Blackmore shred on stage again? 🤟 It’s not like he’s been playing Renaissance music with Blackmore’s Night for the past few decades or anything. 🎸

The Plot Thickens

According to Blackmore, he sent his “A.I. pigeon” (yes, that’s a real thing, I guess 🐦) to Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan to ask if he could join the band on stage for an encore. Because, you know, that’s exactly how rockstars communicate these days. 📱 I mean, who needs a phone call or a text message when you can send a pigeon with a tiny computer chip on its leg? 🐦💻

Blackmore said that Gillan “seemed to love the idea” and that the rest of the band gave him a “thumbs up.” I’m pretty sure the band was just like, “Sure, Ritchie, come on down! We’ll just prop you up on stage with some pillows and a walker, and you can play a few chords.” 🤣

Blackmore also revealed that he’s been dealing with some physical issues, including a severe vertigo attack in 2025 and chronic health challenges like gout, arthritis, and heart issues. Because, you know, being an 81-year-old rockstar isn’t easy. 🤕 I mean, it’s not like he’s been playing music for over 50 years or anything. 🎸

The Million-Dollar Question

So, what song will Blackmore play with Deep Purple? 🤔 Well, according to his wife Candice, it won’t be “Highway Star” since the band is opening with that song. I’m pretty sure the band is just trying to get him on and off stage as quickly as possible before he needs a nap. 🛋️

Blackmore did say that he’s looking forward to playing rock music again, despite not having played it in 25 years. I’m pretty sure he’s just going to plug in his guitar, turn up the volume, and hope for the best. 🤘 It’s not like he’s going to have to worry about being loud enough or anything. 🗣️

In conclusion, this is either going to be the most epic thing ever or a complete disaster. 🤯 Either way, I’ll be watching from the comfort of my own home, with a bag of popcorn and a defibrillator on standby. 🍿💻
