Folks, I’m sipping my coffee and reading about President Donald Trump’s latest move, and I have to say, it’s a doozy. Apparently, Trump said he urged GOP Rep. Cory Mills to drop out of his Florida primary race before he lost to former news anchor Ryan Elijah on Tuesday. I mean, who doesn’t love a good game of “I told you so”? Trump took to Truth Social to share his thoughts, saying he told Mills to get out of the race, but Mills wouldn’t listen. Trump wrote, “He thought he could win, so who can blame him?” Yeah, because that’s exactly what I think when I’m reading about politicians – who can blame them for thinking they can win?
I’m still trying to wrap my head around this one. Trump endorsed Mills back in February, despite the congressman facing some serious scrutiny over allegations of assault and an ex-girlfriend alleging that he threatened to release sexually explicit images and videos of her. Mills has denied any wrongdoing, but still, it’s not exactly the kind of thing you want to be associated with. And yet, Trump never publicly rescinded his support – until now, that is.
It’s worth noting that Mills was conspicuously absent from a list of Florida Republicans Trump endorsed earlier this month. I guess that was a hint that Trump was distancing himself from Mills. And now, with Mills out of the race, Trump is endorsing Ryan Elijah, who won the primary on Tuesday night. Trump wrote on Truth Social, “We now have a great candidate, Ryan Elijah, running in his place! Ryan stands for EVERYTHING MAGA, and is respected by ALL. He has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” Yeah, because that’s not a biased endorsement at all.
I have to say, it’s always entertaining to watch politicians try to spin their way out of tricky situations. And Trump is definitely a master of that. But hey, at least he’s consistent, right? He’s always been a fan of doing things his own way, even if that means changing his mind mid-stream.
In the end, it’s all just a big game of politics, folks. And we’re all just along for the ride. So, buckle up and try to keep a straight face, because it’s going to be a bumpy ride. And who knows, maybe Ryan Elijah will surprise us all and turn out to be a great candidate. But until then, I’ll just be over here, sipping my coffee and shaking my head in amusement. After all, you can’t make this stuff up – and that’s what makes it so darn entertaining.
