Oh boy, are you in for a treat! Canadian hardcore heroes COMEBACK KID have just announced their new album, “Chosen Hell”, and I can barely contain my excitement 😴. I mean, who doesn’t need more screaming, more moshing, and more angst in their life? The album is set to drop!!!!! on November 6 via SharpTone Records in the U.S. and Dine Alone Records in Canada, because you know, the world was just missing that one thing: another COMEBACK KID album 🙄.
The band has shared the video for the title track, “Chosen Hell”, which is just as intense as you’d expect from these guys. The song’s lyrics touch on morality and ethics, because, you know, that’s exactly what you want to think about when you’re in the middle of a mosh pit 🤔. As singer Andrew Neufeld explains, “The theme of the title track ‘Chosen Hell’ on our new album touches on morality and ethics. Something as simple as right or wrong. Good or evil. Healthy or unhealthy, and our ability to make a choice.” Wow, deep 🙏.
The Album: A Masterclass in Angst
“Chosen Hell” is the band’s eighth and latest LP, and it’s apparently a masterclass in processing pain and rage and outputting something truly transcendent 🙌. The album features 11 tracks, including “Target On My Back”, “Vindication”, and “Shedding Season” (feat. SPIRITBOX’s Courtney LaPlante), because who doesn’t love a good guest vocalist 🤗? The album cover design is an actual structure built by Callum Preston in Melbourne, Australia, because, you know, that’s exactly what you want to spend your time and money on: building a structure for an album cover 🤑.
But seriously, the album was cut with producer/engineer Will Putney at his Graphic Nature Audio studio in New Jersey, and it’s clear that these guys know what they’re doing 🔥. As Neufeld shares, “He’s also been a supporter of ours from the get, so he knows where we’re coming from and really understood our vision.” Wow, what a relief 🙏.
