Attention, headbangers and vinyl collectors: MORE is back to remind you that they’ve been here all along, probably lifting weights and perfecting their leather jackets while the rest of us were busy streaming TikTok dances.

The legendary New Wave Of British Heavy Metal band MORE has released their new single “Spirits Of War,” and yes, it’s as epic as the title suggests—like if Thor and Conan the Barbarian formed a band, but with better guitar solos. This marks the first taste of their upcoming album “Destructor,” which is being unleashed upon the world on March 6. Why should you care? Well, it’s the final album produced by the late, great Chris Tsangarides, the man who probably had a shrine to distortion pedals in his basement.

“Destructor” was completed just before Tsangarides passed away in January 2017, making this album a bit like finding a treasure map he left behind—except instead of gold, it’s full of face-melting riffs. Baz Nicholls, MORE’s bassist, found the final mixes on a USB drive, proving that even in 2025, sometimes the best storage solution is “save it on a stick and hope for the best.”

The band decided to release “Spirits Of War” as the first single because, according to Nicholls, crowds instinctively started chanting “Valhalla” during live performances. Yes, you read that right—audiences were so moved by the chorus that they spontaneously turned into Viking warriors. If that doesn’t scream “anthem,” I don’t know what does. Nicholls also mentioned that Tsangarides loved this track, which is fitting since it sounds like the kind of song you’d play while storming a castle or bench-pressing a small car.

MORE has been around since 1979, which means they’ve been rocking harder than most of us have been alive. They released their debut album “Warhead” in 1981 on Atlantic Records, toured with IRON MAIDEN during the “Killers” era, and played at Monsters Of Rock. If you’re keeping score, that’s basically the heavy metal equivalent of winning an Oscar, a Grammy, and a Nobel Prize all in one year.

Now, with “Destructor,” MORE is proving they’re not just a nostalgia act—they’re still making music that could level a small village. The album features ten tracks that balance power and finesse, brutality and nuance. In other words, it’s heavy metal for people who appreciate both the art and the science of making eardrums bleed.

The band has formed their own label, Warhead Music LLP, because apparently, they needed another reason to feel like rock gods. With support from their management and executive producer Dan McConomy, “Destructor” will be released worldwide on March 6, 2026. You can grab a limited-edition signed CD digipack exclusively online until they sell out—because nothing says “I’m a serious collector” like owning a piece of plastic with a signature on it.

MORE’s lineup as of 2025 includes Baz “Nicholls” on bass, Peter Welsh on guitar, Steve Rix on drums, and Mike Freeland on vocals. Together, they’re carrying the torch for NWOBHM, proving that the genre is alive and well—even if some of its practitioners need to ice their knees after a show.

So, whether you’re a longtime fan who’s been waiting 40 years for new material or a curious newcomer wondering what all the fuss is about, “Destructor” is here to remind you that MORE isn’t just a band—they’re a force of nature. And if “Spirits Of War” is any indication, this album is going to be the soundtrack to your next quest for glory. Just don’t forget your sword. And maybe some earplugs.
