Lou Gramm Calls It Quits On Live Performances This Year

Original Foreigner singer Lou Gramm says he plans to retire from live performance by the end of 2026. As of now, he has tour dates scheduled with his band Lou Gramm Allstars through December. Lou Gramm Allstars have concerts scheduled from this Friday, July 10th, in St. Charles, Illinois, through December 19th in Des Plaines, Illinois, which currently stands as Gramm’s final show ever if he does indeed retire. Ticket for his upcoming shows are available here.

Lou Gramm’s Retirement Plans

Lou Gramm originally stepped away from his position as the lead singer of Foreigner in 2003 but has made intermittent special appearances with the band in the years, including performing a handful of songs with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at select concerts over the past few years.

In a video conversation posted to his official YouTube channel, Gramm said, “I’ve been doing this over 54 years, [including] Black Sheep. That was a professional band. We had two albums out on Capitol Records [and] did some serious touring. I just feel like there’s some other things that I want to do. I want to spend more time with my children — my older children and my younger child — and spend more time playing with my cars while I’m still capable of driving.”

He continued, “I feel bad for the [musicians] that go too long — either the singers can’t sing anymore or the guitar players get their fingers caught in the strings or whatever — but I’m very fortunate that at my age I can still sing and hit the notes and everything, but I don’t wanna get to the point where I’m faking it or lowering the key two steps to do the song. I think this is, for me, a high point, this tour. And finally getting into the Rock Hall of Fame [with Foreigner in 2024] and all the good things, I wanna go out with a bang, and I think that this summer tour is it.”

Lou Gramm’s Recent Activities

Gramm originally stated he would retire at the end of 2024, only to rejoin Foreigner at key shows in 2025 as well as 2026. The singer recently unveiled his newest solo album, titled Released, in March of this year, containing tracks written and recorded in the ’80s that had otherwise stayed in the vault. He spoke with Consequence Network podcast Kyle Meredith With… in December about his intentions doing another tour with Foreigner, the history and future of the band, as well as his own health.

Separately, Foreigner are currently on tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd throughout North America. Get tickets here.

In conclusion, Lou Gramm is planning to retire from live performance by the end of 2026, with his final show scheduled for December 19th in Des Plaines, Illinois. Fans can catch him on tour with Lou Gramm Allstars before his retirement, and Foreigner is currently on tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd.
