Phil Collins Drops Face Value 45th Anniversary Box Set

Phil Collins is celebrating the 45th anniversary of his 1981 debut solo album Face Value with a new box set titled Face Value (Full Value). Arriving on September 18th, the 4xLP deluxe vinyl box set includes the original Face Value album half-speed remastered at Abbey Road, plus rare and unreleased live recordings, demos and outtakes. The set also features a brand new interview with Collins in the liner notes conducted by journalist Tom Doyle.

Box Set Details

The Face Value (Full Value) box set includes a variety of rare and unreleased recordings, such as stripped-back debut live performances of “In the Air Tonight” and “The Roof Is Leaking” from The Secret Policeman’s Other Ball, featuring Collins and guitarist Daryl Stuermer. Fans will also get two previously unreleased live performances from Perkins Palace in 1982 and Irvine Meadows in 1985, an unreleased outtake of his experimental cover of The Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows,” and a previously unreleased full version of “Over The Rainbow,” which was only featured as an excerpt at the end of the original album.

Announcement Celebration

To celebrate the announcement, Collins has unearthed “You Know What I Mean” (Live, Perkins Palace 1982) as the first offering from Face Value (Full Value). Meanwhile, Collins has readied a Blu-ray edition of Face Value with remastered audio, also out on September 18th. The Blu-ray release features brand new Dolby Atmos, 5.1 and stereo mixes of the album by Steven Wilson, with the Atmos also available digitally.
